A Preface
I’m a universe person. I’d say 65% of what makes me like a series is universe; culture, politics, geography, technologies and sometimes stuff like magic, if it has rules and a framework to it (does that make sense?). Everything that makes Lord of the Rings, Star Trek or Harry Potter different from the world we live in. As a result, most of my favorite series are either fantasy, sci-fi, historical or just non-western.
This isn’t everything i’ve ever seen/read because either i’ve forgotten stuff, never really got into it or it just seems odd to list (Dante’s Inferno springs to mind)
The list is roughly in order of my favourites, but don’t hold me to that. Plus, franchises can make categorising these things hard
